About Us

HBS Marine Consultancy Center, Alexandria, Egypt (hereinafter as HBS) was established in 2009, by Gamal Mahran, who changed the direction of his work after 32 years as Ch. Eng. on-board, Senior Surveyor, Management Systems Consultant, a Lead Auditor and Training Provider to Lloyd's Register, to work henceforth as an independent Marine Surveyor and Management Systems Consultant.

In 2013, Ahmed Gafour, the ex-Senior Surveyor and Lead Auditor to Lloyd's Register joined HBS, adding great value to office activities through his experience as a Surveyor of constructions & repairs of ships and working with all the shipyards within Egypt.

Also, in 2013, Hashem Mahran joined HBS as a Trainee Surveyor. Now, he has obtained a Diploma in Marine Surveying from Lloyd's Maritime Academy to become qualified for different types of Marine Surveys. He also proceeded for the auditing activities and became a qualified and experienced Lead Auditor (ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO 9001 & ISO 50001).

In 2020, Ahmed Zayed a qualified Master Mariner with more than 15 years of experiences in safe operations of large tankers and bulk Carriers Ocean going vessels, joined HBS, as a navigational consultant adding a great value and expertise in incidents investigations.

Also, in 2020, Mohamed Hassan, a qualified/certified LEEA registered technician, joined HBS, as cargo handling equipment and lifting appliances expert, adding a great value to our incident’s inspection team.

Lately, in 2021, Mahmoud Abou Arab, Ex. Marine Surveyor to Bureau Veritas, with more than 12+ years of shipyard experience in steel ship construction, repair and installation of marine and mechanical systems, joined HBS, adding a great value as a Marine Surveyor.

HBS is amongst the most experienced surveyors' companies in Egypt. We have gained tremendous experience as independent maritime experts by having performed tasks and represented interests on behalf of P&I Clubs' Correspondents, Shipowners, Charterers and other businesses in the marine industry.

Our aim is to assist our customers in developing their businesses and to protect their interests by providing expert services in the areas of maritime industry and insurance.

HBS provides genuinely impartial assessments of a vessel's condition, provides survey reports promptly – enabling the making of prompt commercial and business decisions and helping our clients save time and money.
